STRAWBERRIES- The only fruit to grow its seeds on the outside! For the month of February we have selected strawberries to be our special lady. For obvious reasons, strawbs are a hot commodity around Valentines day in the produce community. Chocolate covered strawberries are a tasty and easy v-day treat, and one of the most delicious ways to consume them. However, there are equally as tasty ways to eat strawberries that can be a tad healthier. Here are my personal favorites: chopped up and tossed on top of a bowl of greek yogurt and granola, or quartered and added to a bed of mixed greens with feta cheese, walnuts, and a light vinaigrette. Also the perfect addition to any fruit salad!

KALE- An extremely diverse and delicious vegetable. It's currently in season and can be used in so many ways; not to mention it's so good for you! Most commonly kale can be used to make a super filling and nutritious salad. Toss it in a bowl with some white beans, pumpkin seeds, cucumber, lemon juice and olive oil and voila! Kale is also an easy addition to any soup or smoothie for some added fiber, antioxidants, and a wide assortment of vitamins. Truly a super food that is super delicious and easy to find in grocery stores!
While we're in the thick of winter, here are some tasty fruits and veggies to shop for this season. To start, pick up all the citrus you can. Grapefruit, oranges, lemons; the list goes on! Recently we have loved having sumo oranges around the office to munch on. Another seasonal veg that has been a hot commodity around WSP is celery as well as avocados, so get ready for lots of avocado toast! Also be sure to grab some potatoes, apples, and pears to enjoy while they're still in season.
